Reflections
I've had fun working on this project! It was really intersting to see what we would come up with. We started with a theme and worked on from there. I learned alot; how to create an effective site, about virtual worlds, and cyberculture, etc. I think we worked well together. I created the site and added the site blog and chat. But everything else on the site Group 2 members created. I was always amazed at what they came up with; from the structure to the look-all the pieces fit together. To me that was the best part, wathing the site come to life! They added pics, and maps...that was really creative...again, it was a pleasure working with the site and my group. everyone put a little piece of themselves into it.

Coming together as One
Smething became very clear to me during thsi group project. It didn't matter what we picked; it didn't matter who picked it; it didn't matter who started it or who built the foundation of it. What mattered most is that we came together to get it done. It didn't matter how much one person contributed, by herself/himself the project would not succeed.
This project has been a group project. As a result, we have all needed to contribute to make it work. It's kinda like a team. Let's take Michael Jordan for example. It didn't matter how good he played; he needed the suppport and backup of his team to pull it together. Just like Jordan, some of the people here who provided the meat of this project still needed all of us to pull it off fully.
It's been my hope that we could all contribute to this project. We all wanted to make this work. This needed all of us in order to do so. I wish to express my gratitude to the group for helping to make this happen. My only regret is that we all couldn't contribute to this as well as Carol and Dana have.

Learning from others
I always find that I learn quite a bit from the other students at PUC. And, hopefully, my classmates learn from me as well. However, I always feel very insecure when it comes to speaking up in class. Many people feel that way, but once I go online, the insecurities melt away. I am always able to speak my mind through email, text, blogs, etc. I think it would be great if PUC had a site that enabled students to speak their minds, and get to know the other students in their classes, and throughout the campus.
We could get to know each other, share our thoughts, without having the fear of what the other person will look like once they hear what comes out of your mouth! If they laugh, roll their eyes, etc. it is behind the screen, and no one will know any different. I really think that having an SNS site for PUC students will really grow school spirit, comradery, and the learning experience.
Ok---go ahead---roll your eyes...I don't care!

Feeling lost & lonely on campus
Do you ever feel like even though you pay your tuition, go to class regularly and make small talk with your classmates, that sometimes you just don't fit in? I know sometimes I do.
I am in my second go 'round at Purdue Calumet. I originally was a student straight out of high school in 1987. I went full time for 2 years then dwindled down to part-time, then eventually left altogether. I went to work, got married, and started a family. Then in 2006 I started part-time classes back up.
The one thing that was consistent back then and still is now, is that I don't feel a connection to the people at school. Could it be because I don't spend 24/7 with them like I would have if I had went down to West Lafayette and lived on campus? Is just making an appearance a few hours a week enough to form any kind of connection? I really don't think so. But when you take into account all the things in my life (and other people's lives I'm sure!!), I feel stretched to the limit with responsibilities and demands on my time.
